About Us

Research and Production Company Smet was founded in 1991 and is engaged in the development and production of innovative products from bioelastic nitinol (NiTi) with shape memory. The priority direction is medicine, specialization is endoscopic instruments.

Nitinol is the only bioinert alloy that has the elasticity of living tissue, which makes it possible to create unique medical products based on it.

Bioelastic nitinol extractors for the endoscopic removal of urinary and gallstones are such products.

In 1991, we were the first in the world to produce lithoextractors with the “classic” Dormia nitinol trap basket.

In the late 90s, we developed and began to produce nitinol lithoextractors with an innovative Khachin trap basket in the form of a “seine” with a mesh on the distal surface, which guarantees the capture and retention of the stone on the first try. The original Khachin lithoextractors have become a strong alternative to traditional extractors with a Dormia basket and have begun to replace the latter not only in the Russian market, but also abroad, primarily in the USA.

In 2014, we developed and began to mass-produce new Khachin lithoextractors with the ability to move the mesh from the distal surface of the basket to the side surface (Side basket) and thereby get rid of the "extreme" stone captured in the basket.

More details about lithoextractors from SMET are in the catalog.
